The Best 3 Diets in the U.S Right Now - Why Facebook Dieters Disagree?
At the beginning of 2014 the U.S News and World Report published
the 3 best U.S diets for 2014 which was deduced from a so-called panel
of health experts that reviewed 38 diet programs of which 32 of them
were ranked as easy-to-follow ways to promote nutrition, weight loss and
safety.
The following are listed as the top 3.
1. The DASH Diet
The DASH Diet was ranked no' 1 and focuses primarily on your caloric and salt intake.
It's
argued to help with lowering blood pressure and its ability to reduce
your chances of developing type-2 diabetes and controlling it.
2. The TLC (Therapeutic Lifestyle Change)Diet
The
TLC suggests the importance of eating low calorie non-saturated fatty
foods and because it will no doubt include changes to your current
eating plan it's advised that you consult a dietician if you're on
medication for high blood pressure as the TLC diet helps lower your
triglycerides, cholesterol and high blood pressure which may interfere
with some medications.
3. The Mayo Clinic Diet
This diet is a weight loss and lifestyle program designed by Mayo Clinic health experts and focuses on lifelong healthy eating.
It's
rated high in nutrition, but only moderately effective for weight loss
and focuses on a regimen of grapefruit, salads, vegetables and generous
amounts of fats and meats.
Why do Facebook Dieters Disagree?
In
short this recent publication has stirred up much debate on the social
networking site Facebook and the following are a list of key objections
dieters have taken:
1. Using nationally recognized experts
People
suggest that having nationally recognized experts putting together
these reports, means they have vested interests in grain production as
these experts are all from a panel of the department of agriculture.
2. The Paleo diet wins hands down
Most
dieters agree that the Paleao diet should be listed as no' 1 as a diet
of carb-dense veggies and meat proteins along with fruits, seeds and
nuts plus healthy fats and pastured butter, coconut oil, avocado can
deliver an excellent rate of weight loss, along with clearer and tighter
skin, brighter eyes, thicker hair and nails and a vast increase in
daily energy.
3. Grain diets are outdated
It
appears the only diets that have shown long-term weight loss are low
carb diets, in fact carbs are a less important nutrient than healthy
fats and protein.
The low fat, grain based, calorie counting
"common knowledge" based diets are argued to be old news and arguing
that adding gluten free grains in particular, that will stimulate your
appetite and cause gut dysfunction are actually healthier is again down
to the industries need to hock grain.
