How metabolism works in the body



What is metabolism?
 Metabolism refers to the biochemical reactions that occur in total in our living cells. These reactions involve the absorption, synthesis, assimilation and decomposition of the main biomolecules. Biomolecules may be proteins, carbohydrates and lipids. All the food we eat must undergo these biochemical reactions reaction that we are in a healthy state. Our lift is highly dependent on their normal functioning of these processes.

Types of metabolic reactions:
 Metabolism is divided into two broad categories: anabolism and catabolism.

catabolism
 Catabolism refers to the process of decomposition of organic matter ( food) with the main objective of producing energy. Everything we eat for our meals should be broken down into a form that the body can use. Proteins are broken down to smaller units called amino acids, which are the cornerstone of our body tissues. Carbohydrates, which is provided in the form of starches and sugars are reduced to monosaccharides such as glucose, fructose and galactose. Fats are known to produce more energy than either carbohydrates or proteins, they are eventually broken down into fatty acids and glycerol twice.The idea of ​​catabolic reactions is to provide all the necessary ingredients for the sister reaction anabolism.


Anabolism


 After the body has failed all the food that is ingested during catabolism, the reverse of the assembly process or reconstruction takes place. At this point, synthesis of more complex compounds is initiated. These may include the assembly of amino acids to make proteins, polysaccharide synthesis from monosaccharides, fatty acid lipids and nucleic acids are optionally involved in the transfer of genetic information.

Metabolic reactions that Promotes
 Metabolic reactions do not take place on their own. These biochemical reactions are catalyzed (accelerated) by the specific biochemical catalyst called enzymes. Enzymes are very specific and optimum working temperature and in a given pH range. pH levels describe the degree of acidity or alkalinity of the body fluids.

Life everyday with the metabolism
 Common knowledge of the word metabolism is the rate at which the body burns calories we consume. People with high metabolic activity is associated with the ability of one to burn more calories and therefore losing weight at a faster rate than that metabolic rate is slower, this comparison is between people of the same weight have the same activity level and the same power supply.


What factors influence the metabolism?

 There are a number of factors that directly affect how these processes occur. Some of which are controllable and others are beyond our help. These factors may include;

Gender: It is an indisputable fact that men burn calories at a faster rate than women. Generally, men have more muscle tissue and, therefore , the higher specific surface provided by the muscle tissue facilitate faster burning calories.


Heredity: Sometimes individuals inherit traits along the lines of the family. This is a common occurrence to find a family with very thin members, no matter what kind of food they eat. At the same time there are people who have a family history of obesity.

 
Medical conditions: People with thyroid disorders tend to have problems with metabolism. For example , hyperthyroidism can result in a higher metabolic rate while hypothyroidism leads to a slow rate of metabolism.


Lifestyle: This may be related to the type of food consumed and the level of activity of participating on a daily basis. For example, a food rich in fiber is very good to increase the active metabolic rate and a person builds more muscle and possibly other muscle tissues are built.

 The human body is a very complex system of complex biochemical reactions that take place inside the cell structures. These processes are performed involuntarily but we have a say in how they unfold. It is basically our lifestyle and our diet.
